Satyamev Jayate – First episode

The grand debut of Aamir Khan on so called Idiot Box (Television) happened on 6^th May 2012 and what a debut, if we speak in terms of movie it was a Super Blockbuster, not just in terms of TRP but also in terms of emotions. Aamir’s effort was lauded by persons from almost every sector, not just movie and even common public came put in open to praise Aamir on social networking sites.

The first episode concentrated on female foeticide and the issues that are related with it. It was really an eye-opener as it proved all our assumptions incorrect and told the world that we Indians are killing 10 lakhs girls every year even when they are unborn. 

Before watching this episode I used to think that people who go for female foeticide must be from lower sections and illiterate people but to my surprise I came to know that it is not the illiterate or lower section but it is the middle class and upper middle class and well-educated people who are more involved in female foeticides. The victims who came in open on the show definitely need a lot of praise for showing the strength to overcome all the problems that they faced from their own family members.

What a big surprise it was when it was told on the show that all the doctors who were caught on camera in a sting operation related to female foeticide are still practicing and none of them has been punished. This also shows the weak will-power of the government to take action against the culprits and it also make clear the level of corruption prevailing in the system.

Satyamev Jayate is definitely a show which will make people think and make them do something to solve the problem. Great job done by the team of Satyamev Jayate.
