A mother's monologue

Not long ago two of my son’s were sitting around the table telling their friends horror stories of my unique way of mothering. I am long past the time when I thought they would sit around and call me blessed. In my dreams they would forever praise me and ask their wives to be mothers like I was. Horse feathers.
I am now being accused of throwing them out in the yard in the summer, locking the door and telling them not to come back until the street lights were on. It’s their lie so they can tell it anyway they want to, but I know I didn’t lock them out of the house and further more they never stayed outside until the street lights came on. We were either eating supper or at a ballgame of some sort at dusk. (I did make my daughter practice her saxophone on the front porch. To that I will admit.)
I prided myself in being a good mother. I felt like I dedicate my whole life to those children. Now I hear all the terrible things I did to them. My memory is probably clouded because there were times when I wanted to take them all to the dog pound and put them up for adoption. Their main purpose in life was to drive me bonkers and it worked!
We all have stories of our parent’s and how we were raised. But you know our parent’s raised us the best they knew how at the time and I raised my kid’s the same way. While it wasn’t a perfect life, it was our life and on most days it was a very good life. I didn’t do everything perfectly and I sure made many mistakes but I loved those little heathens so much. I still do. So let them laugh…I am not the one raising kids anymore…they are.

r u married or getting married?

Years ago I asked God to send me a wife, for the Holy Book says “you have not because you ask not“. I told the Lord not just that I wanted a wife but even explained to him the kind of wife I was looking for.

I told him I wanted someone who is kind, tender, gentle, compassionate, loving, sincere, peaceful, generous, affectionate, understanding, passionate, warm, intelligent, humorous, sensual, and trustful. I even mentioned things I wanted her to be physically. And as time passed, I would add more things to this list of my heart desire for a wife.

Then one night in prayer God spoke to my heart and said... “Son I can not give you what you've asked me for.“ I said, “Why not Lord?“ He replied, “For I am a just God and a God of righteousness and all I do is just and right.“ I said, “Lord, I don't understand why I cannot have what I have asked you for.“

He replied, “Then I will explain. It would not be just and right for me to grant to you your wish for I cannot give unto you something that you are not yourself. It would not be fair for me to grant unto you a person that is loving if you can sometimes be hateful, or someone that is kind if you can also be mean, someone that is a forgiver and yet you can still carry a grudge, someone that is sensitive and you are yet so insensitive. .. etc.

He said unto me, “Instead of wasting time trying to find someone or hoping that I will give you someone with all these qualities you seek, you should rather allow me to take this time to allow you to become all it is that you are looking for. For I cannot give to you that which you are not.“

“And if you allow me to work up on your spirit and to shape and mold your heart as I choose then when you see the one I have for you, you will be able to say like Adam said... “She is bone of my bone and she is flesh of my flesh“ for you will see yourself in her for you both will be one flesh.“

Keep this in mind.
This is for all:
the recently married;
the ones who have been married;
the soon to get married;
and the ones that are still looking.

God made woman from man's rib --
not from his head to top him,
nor from his feet to be walked upon;
but from his side to be his partner in life,
from under his arm to be protected by him,
and from near his heart to be loved by him.

Whether or not you believe in God, much of the above still applies.

Greediness pays badly

Once upon a time in a village, a man appeared and announced to the villagers that he would buy monkeys for Rs10/-.

The villagers seeing that there were many monkeys around, went out to the forest and started catching them. The man bought hundreds at Rs10/- and as supply started to diminish, the villagers stopped their effort. He further announced that he would now buy at Rs20/-. This renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started catching monkeys again.
Soon the supply diminished even further and people started going back to their farms. The offer rate increased to Rs25 and the supply of monkeys became so little that it was an effort to even see a monkey let alone catch it.

The man now announced that he would buy monkeys at Rs50! However, since he had to go to the city on some business, his assistant would now buy on behalf of him. In the absence of the man, the assistant told the villagers. Look at all these monkeys in the big cage that the man has collected. I will sell them to you at Rs35 and when the man returns from the city, you can sell it to him for Rs50." The villagers squeezed up with all their savings to buy the monkeys. Then they never saw the man nor his assistant, only monkeys everywhere!!

Hang Delhi rape victim's friend

A 56-year old Supreme Court Lawyer Manohar lal Sharma wants the friend of Delhi gang rape victim to be hanged as he feels the gang rape has happened because of the lust of victim’s friend. So, does he mean that the six accused have nothing to do with the rape and he also went on saying that no respected woman is ever raped and even criminals don’t dare to rape a respected woman, which in return implies that all the women who are raped are disrespectful, character-less, and they invite rapist to rape them.

If this is the quality of our lawyers at Supreme Court of India, the apex court of the country, then even GOD can’t do anything for us. There are lot of people who make an argument that the victim and her friend should not have been on road in late night, but why? This is just an argument to shield the destructed mentality of some Indian men and inefficiency of Government to provide protection to its citizens.

The Uttrakhand Government has one step further by imposing restrictions for women for working after 6 in evening. The Uttrakhand government has just openly admitted that they are not able to provide for safety of woman in night, but if the government is not in a position to provide protection to its citizens 24 hrs, 7 days a week, then what right does it have to remain in power. Majority of the state governments, and even our robotic Prime Minister and his cabinet does not deserve to remain in power but they can’t be removed as there is no one more deserving to take charge.

We, Indians claim proudly to be the biggest democracy but honestly there is nothing to be proud of our democratic system.

what is confidence?

And then the storm broke. The ominous cracks of thunder could be heard even above the roar of the engines. Lightening lit up the darkening skies and within moments that great plane was like a cork tossed around on a celestial ocean. One moment the airplane was lifted on terrific currents of air; the next, it dropped as if it were about to crash.

The man confessed that he shared the discomfort and fear of those around him. He said, "As I looked around the plane, I could see that nearly all the passengers were upset and alarmed. Some were praying.

The future seemed ominous and many were wondering if they would make it through the storm. And then, I suddenly saw a girl to whom the storm meant nothing. She had tucked her feet beneath her as she sat on her seat and was reading a book.

Everything within her small world was calm and orderly. Sometimes she closed her eyes, then she would read again; then she would straighten her legs, but worry and fear were not in her world. When the plane was being buffeted by the terrible storm, when it lurched this way and that, as it rose and fell with frightening severity, when all the adults were scared half to death, that marvelous child was completely composed and unafraid."

The man could hardly believe his eyes. It was not surprising therefore, that when the plane finally reached its destination and all the passengers were hurrying to disembark, he lingered to speak to the girl whom he had watched for such a long time.

Having commented about the storm and behavior of the plane, he asked why she had not been afraid.

The sweet child replied,

"Sir, my Dad is the pilot and he is taking me home."

When you are sure of your self, your confidence level is steady and you are never shaky...You do things calmly and
successfully.
Are you confident of yourself?

Blinded with pride

An old man once had an argument with his only son. He tried to apologize many times but the young man would not listen. The father never gave up because he loved his son with all his heart, but the son would not give in, because he was too blinded by his pride.

Years passed and as the man lay in his deathbed, he made a final attempt to reconcile with his son, but still he would not listen and so the father died with a heart full of grief.

During this time the son too had a child who had now grown up into a young adult. To this child he never mentioned his father and when the young man asked about his grandfather he would tell him never to mention him again.

One day, they too were both involved in a hot argument and his son fled away as his father did many years before. The man was extremely saddened and this time he had no pride, but felt completely isolated.

He was afraid that he had lost his son forever and for the first time after many years he turned to God in prayer. At that moment something filled his heart and he realized how his father must have felt many years back.

He remembered how he had hurt his old man and only at that point he realized the extent of the hurt he had caused. The more he thought the more he understood how unjust he was with his old father, the man who gave him everything through out his life.

With these sad thoughts he felt asleep on the couch. Next morning when he opened his eyes he found himself tucked in his bed and in front of him stood his son. The man could not believe his eyes, and the two hugged each other while they cried together.

After lots of apologies, the young man explained that up till the day before he felt lots of hatred towards his father, but during the night he had a strange dream that touched his heart. He dreamt that an old man was hugging him, and as he embraced him, all his hatred turned into love. The old man then told him to forgive and forget. He then explained that as soon as he woke up he came running to his father's house.

At this point the man told his son that on the same night, he learnt an important lesson, and how he had let his father down when he was younger. The son wanted to know more about his grandfather who he never met or even saw, and this was the most appropriate time.

The man went to an old bookshelf and fetched an old family album. He then picked an old photograph of his father and when the son saw it, he remained dumb-founded. The son then explained that the man in the photograph was the same one he dreamt of the night before.

Pakistan : A troubling neighbour

Pakistan, is absolutely opposite to its name as Pakistan means a place which is pure and Pakistan can be anything but not pure. We Indians again showed our civilized approach and our zeal for peace by calling them for playing cricket and they replied it by killing our soldiers and infact they paid us bonus by taking away one soldier’s head. It is not a big deal if Pakistan is doing all this; BIG DEAL is what we are doing for Pakistan. Pakistan never deserved the treatment that we gave it; whether it is recent times or whether it was 1947.
Our political leaders have always shown some hesitation in replying in a proper manner to Pakistan. We always believe in talks and creating International pressure on Pakistan which has never bothered Pakistan. Why don’t we understand that Pakistan is a country which hates peace, they can’t live without hating India, how much you try to maintain good relations with it, on regular intervals Pakistan will do something or other to irritate you and make you angry.
But my question is if we knew that Pakistan will not change and it will always behave like this then why are we inviting it’s players to come and play here, why are we inviting its artists to perform in our TV programs and paying them hefty money. We should at least ban all the Pakistan artists from working in India, show some solidarity to our soldiers.

·         "The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed."
·         "A man's ethical behavior should be based effectually on sympathy, education, and social ties; no religious basis is necessary. Man would indeeded be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death."

·         "You see, wire telegraph is a kind of a very, very long cat. You pull his tail in New York and his head is meowing in Los Angeles. Do you understand this? And radio operates exactly the same way: you send signals here, they receive them there. The only difference is that there is no cat."
·         "One had to cram all this stuff into one's mind for the examinations, whether one liked it or not. This coercion had such a deterring effect on me that, after I had passed the final examination, I found the consideration of any scientific problems distasteful to me for an entire year."
·         "...one of the strongest motives that lead men to art and science is escape from everyday life with its painful crudity and hopeless dreariness, from the fetters of one's own ever-shifting desires. A finely tempered nature longs to escape from the personal life into the world of objective perception and thought."
·         "He who joyfully marches to music rank and file, has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice. This disgrace to civilization should be done away with at once. Heroism at command, how violently I hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be a part of so base an action. It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder."
·         "A human being is a part of a whole, called by us _universe_, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest... a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."
·         "Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts." (Sign hanging in Einstein's office at Princeton)
